Instead of a birthday in Cabo or some far-off island, I decided the perfect destination is right here in San Diego. Friends are flying in, locals are joining, and together we’ll make this milestone weekend feel like the best kind of journey, full of good company, good food, and plenty of fun stops along the way.

Friday - Welcome Aboard!
You’ve arrived—welcome to San Diego.
Kick things off with a low-key Italian night in our condo building’s rec room: great pizzas, crisp salads, and easy mingle time before the weekend takes off.
Drop in anytime between 5:00 and 7:00 PM—come as you are after travel, grab a slice, and say hello. Think of it as the pre-boarding lounge: simple, friendly, and relatively stress-free.

Layover at Liberty Station
Start the day with a mini world tour before the evening celebration. Pick up a passport card at my welcome table, then wander historic Liberty Station and the Liberty Public Market at your own pace. Each stop offers a taste or small surprise—from France to Mexico to Japan—so every stamp tells a story.
It’s a self-guided, come-and-go adventure with time to explore, sip, and shop. Around 11:30, we’ll gather for a group photo and a quick toast, then wrap up so everyone can recharge and get ready for the main event at 4:30.

Come ready for a bayside celebration that feels like a festive getaway in San Diego.
On Saturday, December 13, 2025, we’ll gather at the historic ZLAC Rowing Club, right on Sail Bay in Pacific Beach. From 4:30–9:30pm, the evening unfolds like a trip around the globe: a welcoming spread to start, flavors passed hand-to-hand, stations inspired by far-flung destinations, and a grand finale that feels straight off a cruise ship. All of it paired with good company, festive drinks, and the kind of waterfront views that remind you why San Diego just might be your favorite port of call.
As the sun sets, the annual Holiday Boat Parade will light up the bay - best enjoyed from our spot on the sand with a plate in hand. Think of it as a festive holiday escape without the airport security lines.
Whether you’ve come from across town or across the map, this is your boarding call to help me mark 65 years of arrivals, departures, and a lot of great stops along the way.
Tonight’s itinerary is easy: share some food, raise a glass, and enjoy being together as the next leg of the trip unfolds. Thanks for being part of the miles already traveled—and the ones still to come!
